Chris Plaford got an early start in the world of real estate investing. While still in high school, he purchased a few multifamily properties. He realized early, however, that he was naturally talented in finance. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Indiana University before pursuing a career on Wall Street. 

Chris Plaford spent several years working as a highly accomplished Portfolio Manager in the healthcare division. He eventually made his way to partner with a group managing over $8 billion AUM. Of that total, Chris personally managed $1 billion. He worked as a hedge fund manager for both Goldman Sachs and Balyasny Asset Management. He also worked as the CEO for Clarivate Analytics, serving as an advisor to the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.

Chris has many years of experience trading in other areas outside of healthcare, including real estate, fixed income securities, structured products, credit default swaps, convertible bonds, and equity derivatives. He continues to consult with companies and investors in capital markets across several sectors. 

Chris Plaford left Wall Street in 2013 to focus on his real estate company, Capital Asset Properties. This company is a private real estate investment company focused on income-generating investment properties or development projects. The organization specializes in investing in undervalued assets in inefficient markets, particularly in single-family housing.

Outside of work, Chris Plaford loves to spend time with his family, especially outdoors. Since his childhood, Chris has been an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He is passionate about fishing and teaching his kids how to fish. He believes that there is nothing like the simple joy of spending time outdoors, particularly when you share that time with loved ones. 

After gaining experience from decades of fishing, Chris Plaford has become an expert fisherman. He loves to share tips and tricks on his social media accounts, including his popular YouTube channel.

Although Chris lives in Wilmington, NC, he regularly travels up and down the east coast — from the Florida Keys to Maine — pursuing adventure and the next great fishing spot. His favorite way to spend any day is hanging out with his kids on the water, catching dinner, and enjoying each other’s company.
